What Your Body Knows
Before Your Mind Does
A complete reference guide to what your body has been trying to tell you. The tension that keeps coming back. The exhaustion that rest does not fix. The emotions you cannot quite name. This book is the map.

You might recognize yourself in one of these.
You have tried everything for the stress. The apps, the breathwork, the time off. It helps for a while. And then you are right back where you started.
Your shoulders never fully drop. Your jaw is always slightly clenched. Your gut reacts before you have even processed what is happening.
You know something is off but you cannot quite name it. A low-level heaviness that has been there so long it has started to feel like just who you are.
You are functioning. You are showing up. And yet something underneath feels unfinished. Like a feeling that started and never quite got to complete.
Your body keeps sending signals. The tension that returns after massage. The sleep that does not restore. The recurring pain that has no clear physical cause.
You are ready to stop managing how you feel and start actually understanding it. You just need somewhere to begin.
Your body has been speaking. This is the translation.
Most books tell you how to manage your emotions. This one tells you what they actually mean. Every entry connects a physical sensation or emotion to what is running underneath it, and gives you somewhere to start.
Two ways in
Start with what you feel. Or start with where you feel it. Both doors lead to the same map.
38 complete entries
17 emotions. 21 body regions. Each entry covers what it feels like, what it connects to, and how to begin moving it.
Practices you can use today
Every entry ends with four self-directed practices. No practitioner needed. No equipment. Just your body and your attention.
There are two ways to use this book.
Start with what you feel
Go to Part One. Find the emotion or feeling that resonates most right now. Anger, anxiety, grief, numbness, overwhelm. Each entry tells you where it lives in the body, what it is connected to, and how to begin working with it.
Start with where you feel it
Go to Part Two. Find the area of your body that keeps asking for attention. Shoulders, lower back, jaw, chest, gut. Each entry tells you what emotions often live there and what the body may be trying to communicate.
Read an entry.
This is what it looks like inside. One entry, exactly as it appears in the book. If it resonates, there are 37 more waiting for you.
SHOULDERS
The shoulders carry what the person has taken on, often far more than was ever theirs to carry. You might notice it as tension that returns no matter how many times you stretch or massage it away. A heaviness across the upper back. Headaches that start at the base of the skull. The sense that your body is always slightly braced, always prepared to hold more.
- I have to carry everything.
- Everything depends on me.
- If I rest, something will fall apart.
- Asking for help is weakness, or a burden to others.
- My value comes from how much I can handle.
- Rest is something I will do when this is over.
The shoulders carry the subconscious record of everything that was taken on without question. The belief that rest is dangerous, that everything depends on this person, that putting something down means failing. That belief keeps the shoulders up even when the physical load is not present. The shoulders are holding the conclusion, not just the weight.
The nervous system kept the body in a posture of readiness because rest felt dangerous. The muscles of the shoulders and upper back stayed engaged, never fully releasing, because the subconscious said: if you stop holding, everything falls. Over time this became the resting state. The body forgot what it felt like to put the load down.
There are 37 more entries where that came from. Each one as specific, as practical, and as honest as this one.
Salina Mitera
I spent years being told I was too much. Too sensitive. Too emotional. What I eventually learned, through years of training and through my own healing, is that there was nothing wrong with me. There was just a lot that had never been given the right conditions to move through.
This book is the map I wished I had. It is built from everything I have learned sitting with people whose bodies were speaking clearly long before their minds caught up.
I knew I could not be the only one walking around believing I was too much. Too sensitive. Too melodramatic. I could not be the only one who had been handed a label instead of a map.- from the author's note
